Modern technology has increased material wealth but not happiness.

 Do you think websites made people richer? If so, did it cost them happiness? Well, did modern technology increase material wealth but not happiness?

Well, I think modern technology surely did increase material wealth. One of the wealthiest people in the world is mostly related to technology like Elon Musk, Bill Gates, Jeff Bezos, and MacKenzie Scott. They are all related to technology like online shopping, electric cars, and computers like Microsoft and Apple. Without the brilliant invention of computers and electronics, these people could have just been a custodian. And there were 3.97 million jobs available during covid, meaning more and more profits are generated from technologies. But I'm not sure if it increased happiness. There was an increase in depression and anxiety in the US by almost 50%. This means that it didn't increase happiness but instead decreased it. But modern technology might have not been the cause. There are a lot of factors like Coronavirus, inflation, wars, and much more. This proves that modern technology might have not been the only cause that contributed to a sharp increase in depression and anxiety. But modern technology like social media probably did a huge part in causing these events. Multiple research has proven that heavy social media uses lead to an increased risk of depression. Modern technology also doesn't give children and young adults a chance to interact with other people. This could also decrease happiness. Research also shows that social interactions with other people increase happiness. Modern technology also forced people to work even at home. When there weren't any computers, if there was a blizzard, there wouldn't have been working, but now people can work at home. This means there will be fewer holidays and breaks for them. A lot of people now also work around 34 hours a week. This is a lot and could cause burnout and depression in a lot of the working class. These conditions will not increase happiness. Therefore I agree that modern technology increase material wealth but not happiness.
