 Do you read a lot of science fiction novels? Well, many science fiction stories deal with the possibility of being able to “design” our children by choosing the specific physical and personality traits we would like them to have. Do you think this is a good idea? Why or why not? 

Well, I think "designing" babies should be illegal. If babies were allowed to be designed and be good at something, they would have no dreams. They would be like robots, being good at what they are intended to be good at. They also will have no freedom over what they want to do. Even if they wanted to be a pianist, if their parent wanted them to play the violin, they would have literally no control over what they wanted to do. If they are designed, some babies who were designed the same would think the same and do the same things. This means there could be clones, kids who think the same and act the same. Their parent probably meant well, but this would just give the baby no creativity. If they are designed, they would be designed to be perfect. And even if they aren't, they would be pressured to be perfect. This would put them under a lot of stress. This would just increase the rift between the poor and riches. The "designed and perfect" babies will be only available for riches only. This would mean they will get a smart and perfect descendant, who will probably go on to earn more money for the family. While the poor's descendants would have to compete with these rich and perfect babies. This technology can be also used for military purposes which can lead to World War |||. The military can create babies just designed for fighting in wars. This could just cause another baby boom where millions of babies are born to be used. Some of them could also be designed for just working, this would just make another era of slaves. They would be born slaves and die slaves because they have no choice. They are designed to do what their owner tells them to do. This overall is just terrible idea because it causes chaos in society.
