The United States of America is known for aiding other countries. Like after World War I or WW1, the United States of America helped Germany after it had to sign a treaty of Versailles. And by aiding, we mean providing money to a country, like the United States of America is doing to Ukraine because of the Ukraine war. Although foreign aid spending is typically only a very small portion of our annual budget (currently about .1% of the Gross National Product), the United States still spends billions of dollars a year on foreign aid. Some people feel this is too much and that we should spend nearly all of our money addressing problems here at home. Others feel it is not nearly enough and that we should spend a great deal more helping other nations. How do you feel about this issue?
I feel like this is needed. When the great depression began, the United States of America did not keep helping Germany, which also let Hitler let reign in Germany. But that's not the point, the United State of America can stop aiding other countries if it needs to. But it took the great depression for the United State of America to stop helping other countries. This means unless a huge thing happens in the United State of America, they are not going to stop helping other countries. The United State of America spends 12 billion dollars helping other countries. Sure this would have been needed during the cold war because if they didn't want any more communist countries they would have to aid them with money. But there is no more cold war, the United State of America won with the moon landing and the United State of America surely don't have to use 12 BILLION dollars for other countries. The United State of America can use that money to prevent crimes, make poor communities better, stop racism, and make public education better. The United State of America doesn't need to give a ton of money to a lot of countries. Maybe they can aid countries who really need aiding. Those amount of money can be also used at home where there are more problems.
