Well, I think that Americans should "not" get involved in conflicts that don't concern national interest. The first reason is unless the dispute is against justice, if Americans don't want a war, they shouldn't interfere. Countless innocent lives will be lost in a war that nobody even wanted. It will also ruin the reputation of Americans and the country itself for sticking their nose into wars. And, if it isn't needed, there's no need to declare war and make another enemy. It won't make any sense if Japan from nowhere started joining the Russia-Ukraina war. No citizen would also like their country to start sending troops and using resources on a lost cause. It's just a waste of time, resources, and the lives of innocents.
But there are other opinions too, which is they should get involved. The first reason is even if the nation is not interested in this conflict, millions of people could be dying. Also, who is to decide if the people of a nation are interested in some conflict or not? Another reason is that when the United States of America chose to join World War 2, most of citizens or Americans didn't like it and disagreed with it. But by joining World War ||, they freed lots of European countries. They also blocked Japan from attacking the United States mainland. So, even if Americans don't like it, the United States of America has to be involved or join in some of the conflicts.
To sum up, conclude, and summarize all the pieces of information, I think that they should not join in unpopular conflicts because it is a waste of almost everything, reputation, people's life, resources, and time. There really is not reasons why they "should" or even be allowed to join in unpopular conflicts. But they should also do it because some conflicts are unavoidable.
