Hi! Do you think smoking should be banned internationally no matter what? Well, today's essay or discussion topic is "The smoking age should be lowered.".
Well, I surely don't think that it should be lowered. The first reason is that I don't believe that it would be even that big of a matter if they banned tobacco or smoking. I don't think that smoking has any big difference with any kind of illegal addiction except that it doesn't make you lose your mind. And is there any reason for people to increase the smoking age? I don't think so. I don't see a single reason why someone will try to decrease or lower the smoking age. I actually think that it would be better to increase it. If they decrease it, more and more teenagers will start to smoke. And unlike some old people who are actually smart and wise and have self-control, it is most likely that reckless teenagers won't have that. People don't know how teenagers will handle addiction, and I think it would be better to not just sit around and wait to figure it out. Also, I don't believe that parents will be satisfied to see their children smoking because the law allows it. And even if there has been research about smoking preventing Parkinson's disease, I still think that it is just ridiculous. Would anyone hypothetically let drinking beer to teenagers because there has been research about it reducing the risks of cancer? I don't think so, and alcohol isn't usually addictive, but nicotine or the substance inside tobacco is addictive. And millions of people die because of tobacco-related diseases like cancer. And I think it would be at least a bit better if they start smoking at the age of 18 instead of 16. And smoking costs money, teenagers wouldn't usually use their own money. So it is most likely that they will pocket the money that they found at random places or steal them from anyone they know. So I think that by at least keeping the smoking age or increasing it would significantly save many innocent teenagers from dying of cancer.
