Hi! Do you think smoking should be banned internationally? Well, today's topic that I will write an essay about is "Banning smoking in public places is undemocratic."
Hi! I think that it is not undemocratic to ban smoking in public places. The first reason is that secondhand smoke is as bad as smoking. And if people are just smoking in public, there will be lots of secondhand smoking happening. That would mean increased heart diseases. Another reason is that if people are smoking in public, there will be more and more cigarette butts on the ground and in public facilities. This is very disturbing and hard work for janitors. Another reason is that it is very harmful to people with asthma, they will have to carry an inhaler wherever they go. And there has been lots of research saying that secondhand smoking actually is one of the most percentages of asthma even causing in the first place. Another reason is that it is really hard to get the smell of tobacco from the place. It will be very disturbing and bad for business if it was for a restaurant. It would be also very unfair and disturbing if you are eating in a restaurant and your neighboring table is smoking and you can't even feel the taste because of the smoke. This would be really bad for non-smokers. And there are way more non-smokers than people that smoke. This means that for clean air, cleanliness of the place, and the air of the place, it would be better to ban smoking in public places, and instead smoke in places where it isn't banned or places where it is legal to smoke.
To sum up or conclude all the pieces of information from this selection, I think that they should ban it from public places and it isn't actually undemocratic. Firstly, there are more non-smokers than people who smoke. So it would be very fair. And for convenience, business, and cleanness of the public places, it would be good for the owners of places and people who visit there if it wasn't allowed to smoke. And it would be also good for the air of the place.
