Hi! Do you think that death penalties are unfair for prisoners and their families? Well, today's topic is "Should the death penalty exist?"
Well, as always. I will present two opinions about today's essay topic to show the reasons for both sides.
Firstly, I will present why the death penalty should exist. The first reason is that there are some criminals that got life imprisonment but escaped from it. It would be a waste of their money and their time and their force if they just sentence him or her to life imprisonment again, so it would be better to sentence them to the death penalty. Another reason is that when the jury sentences the criminal to the death penalty, victims will know that he or she can't hurt them or anyone else again. And it could also relieve some of the victims and help them with mental treatments if they are having them.
Now, I will talk about why they should not have the death penalty or why the death penalty should not exist. The first reason is that if an innocent person gets sentenced to death, even if they find out the truth of the case a few years later, they can't do anything but think that they got the wrong person and it was just another life lost. Also, even if the criminal was guilty of his or her crime, to some criminals, a better way to rehabilitate them is to sentence them to life imprisonment in high-security prison so they can't escape. The last reason is that the death penalty isn't really ethical. Let's say that the jury sentenced the murderer to the death sentence, they would be the same as him or her, killing a person. And because of someone's midsection, a person can just be killed.
To sum up or conclude all the important pieces of information from this selection, it would be good to not ban the death penalty because some criminals could just escape from their prison. But the reason that they should ban it is that it is not ethical and an innocent person's life could be lost. And when they figure out the truth, they will be years late.
