Hi! Do you do any social media? If so, at what age did you start doing it? Well, today's topic is"Should kids under 13 be allowed on social media sites?"
I will say no to this. There are reasons that lots of social media don't allow kids under 13 to be on social media. The first reason is that they might not be old enough for it. On social media, a person can upload anything that could be too sensitive for kids under 13 years old. And another reason is that social media is going to be chaotic if it was full of young kids. They could do things that would just ruin everyone's fun like spamming likes or dislikes, advertising their profile, or sending unnecessarily links in the comment section. Although some people could find this funny or interesting, it still won't be as fun as it was for everybody. Another reason is that it won't be appropriate for children since there will be ads on whatever app you do. But on social media, they blend in to look like posts. And children can use their parents' money without knowing. Also, this would be the same with the internet, but they could enter their personal information and their parents will be the ones to experience the risk. Although they teach how to be safe on the internet, most scammers approach them very casually and act like someone that is famous or one of their family members. It won't be also safe for kids to be posting about their own life. They could accidentally post one of their personal information. And what gets posted on the internet stays there even if you try to delete them. And like some old memes, it could be hard to live normal social life if there is an embarrassing photo or gif on the internet like star wars kid. It would be very embarrassing and nobody would want that. And a children's privacy needs to be respected, so to avoid those sad and bad incidents, it would be best to set the age limit to 13 years old. Although, some kids would still sign up even though they are younger than that, it could at least block some kids from signing up.
