Hi! Do you think destroying forests like Amazon is reasonable? Well, today's topic is "Destruction of the world’s forest is justified by the human need for land and food.".
I do not think at all that it is justified. The first reason is that it would be fine if humans' were the only creatures in the world, but all of us know that it is not true. There are over thousands of plants, trees, mammals, birds, reptiles, and more creatures in a single forest! If we destroy a forest, we are not only destroying it, we are crushing animals' and plants' life. And nobody wants to destroy cute birds' and otters' houses. And it is not just about cute animals'. It is for ourselves, that about 1 acre(about 18 tresses) of the land of trees could provide oxygen for 18 people in a year(365 days). But if we destroy trees and there are only 138,600,000,000 this much of trees, which is about 1/3 of trees nowadays, and every time someone cut 18 trees in the world, 1 person would die, theoretically. And according to my calculator, 2,328,767 people would die every day if the number of trees cut every day continues in the world. It would be pretty sad. "It takes a few minutes to cut 1 tree, but a few decades to grow one.".
But I have another opinion, if we don't continue doing this, humans will someday overpopulate and humans will always need paper. This means that we will have to keep cutting down trees, and in the rainforest, there are lots of trees that cover sunlight, and plants that are short can survive. Well, I think that plants can possibly do the job that trees are doing in making oxygen. And they take up less space than trees, so there could be more plants per acre if there weren't any trees. Although it could be a bad idea, it is efficient and it is pretty easy. No other thing than the tree can match the demand for paper and furniture.
So it is very important for people to not justify their actions. But it is also important to balance it with how we are cutting down trees, if not, what are we going to use for papers, furniture, and more?
