Well, I think they should be allowed to vote. The first reason is that they still have rights. They still have the right to vote But some people would say that "They lost some rights. And one of them would be right to vote." But if they didn't get life in prison or an unrealistic amount of prison years, they should still be able to vote for their future leaders. Still, some might ask "How are they going to do it?" Well, it will be the same as outside the prison. Only people that want to vote will vote. And they can do it at lunchtime or in their free time.
Another opinion is that they have too many problems voting in prison. The first one is that prisoners can escape through all the confusion of voting. And officers won't even notice because they will be probably busy helping or watching prisoners vote. Another problem is that prisoners don't have any information about candidates. And if they get wrong information, it could basically change the winner. So voting for prisoners who have no information is not a reasonable choice for the government. And it is 100% possible that officers may give wrong information or change the votes. And that is basically illegal. And another reason is that it is punishment for people that have done a crime so they are losing a right to vote like they lost their right for privacy. It can also be used for prisoner who is really really famous gang boss. And he has one of his henchmen who is a presidential candidate and if he forces all people to vote for him, the gang boss will be able to get out of prison.
So the conclusion is that it depends for people, but I think we should keep to the way it is so that those bad things won't happen.
