Hi! Do you think technology helps students in school? It can help students research, refine their skills, and communicate with others. But I think it does more harm than good. Technologies distract students from school by giving them an opportunity to use them during class, helping them procrastinate, and constant notifications from their social media and the internet.
The first reason why technology gives students the opportunity to be distracted is that during class, they are more tempted to use them. Students are most likely to hide phones in their laps or in their pockets while they secretly use them while the teacher is teaching. In simpler words, they are only half present, only focusing little. This can quickly become a habit that could lead to bad grades and not knowing what they are learning.
Technologies also can distract students not just from school, but from school work. However, there are adults to stop students from using their technology. But there is not any teacher from the school to prevent students from procrastinating. They could just play around and procrastinate and not do their homework. This would be a big fall for the student since there would be consequences for him or her not doing it. This could be also a problem because if they are not focusing in school using their technology, they are most likely to procrastinate because they don't know how to do their homework.
Last but not least constant notifications from their phone or technology could distract them during class. When notification pings on someone's technology during school, most kids are likely to lose their focus. The owner of the technology will lose focus even more. Even though many schools force students to turn off notifications, some students still forget. It could also cause some trouble if someone calls or students get notifications from social media. It will distract most of the students a lot.
In conclusion, technologies distract students regarding school. But not just at school, but also with homework and at home.
