Hello, how are you doing? Do you have a kid? If so, how much do you let them have screen time? Well, today's essay topic is "Are kids having too much screen time?"
I believe it depends on the parent. But overall, I think they have a bit too much screen time. The first reason is that in the 1990s, which is about 30 years ago, only about 30% of households had computers. And children probably weren't even allowed to play on the computer even once a week. Nowadays children play too many games, watch too many videos, and surf on internet for too long. I think too much screen time is fine if they are using their electronics for educational purposes. But just playing around with it isn't good. And the average American child would spend around 5-7 and 30 minutes hours of screen time. Also, nowadays electronics are very easy to access. Lots of parents have phones or computers or laptops. And kids can easily access them. And average age that kids get their cell phones was just 6 years old. And this isn't just a survey done by 1000 people. It was 23,000 people, and the average was 6, this means that there were tons of children who got their cell phone way before 6. And screen time isn't beneficial in any way, they just worsen your eyesight. It also will make children sleep less and raise the risk of anxiety and obesity.
To sum up, summarize or conclude this essay or selection, I think that children are having too much screen time since the average amount of screen time that American children have is whopping 5~7.5 hours! That's a lot for a kid. And the average age of a kid that gets a cell phone is roughly 6 years old. I don't even know if 6-year-olds can handle it. And they probably would be fascinated by this electronic and probably spend too much time on it. This is bad for children and parents both because they aren't good for children's eyes, and it raises the risk of anxiety and obesity. Which, none of those are good for neither parent of the child.
