Hi! Do you think that voting is very important? Well, today's discussion topic is "The voting age should be lowered.".
I think that they should be lowered to something like 17 or 16. Any age less than that I think is too immature. By lowering or reducing the voting age, I think that more and more teenagers can participate and be more interested in politics. And by lowering it, I think it could actually increase the interest in politics by young people. And I think that it should be very important for people to be able to vote for their own leaders even if they are 16 or 17. It is because lots of leaders, presidents, or other authorities will try to make lots of policies about lots of categories, one of them being education. Although other policies will also affect their life, education policies will affect them directly. So I think that they should be allowed to vote.
But there are also other opinions too. And the one that I will present is that they should not lower it. The first reason is that teenagers are reckless, especially at the age of sixteen through eighteen because they know that they have enough power to do whatever they would like. And it is most likely that if they are given the power to vote, they will vote for whoever their friends or the popular kids are voting for. And I don't think the teachers would like an atmosphere in school where everyone's asking who's voting for who. I also don't think it would be fair for teenagers to vote because I don't think the majority of teenagers will be voting. About 10% or less will probably be voting. If people aged 20 through 27 aren't interested in politics, what makes people think that 17 years old will be? And for this to work, they will need to learn about voting and politics in school too, that would be just more teachers and more things to teach, which makes it complicated since there aren't lots of teachers nowadays.
To sum up or conclude this selection or essay, I think that they shouldn't lower or reduce the voting age because teenagers are reckless and I don't think they would be able to successfully choose their own leader.
