Hi!! Do you have a cell phone? Well, if so, do you think it is useful? Anyway, today's topic is "Child's age to have a cell phone"
Well, I think it depends on their parents, but I think 8 would be enough for the child to have a cell phone. Here are the reasons. Firstly, nowadays, phones have GPS so parents can track kids using an app. And it would be really helpful if parents can find where their kid is if they can't find him or her. It could be also helpful since it would be easier for kids to arrange a playdate or hang out using their cell phones because they can't always meet at the same time. But why should they really have phones at the age of 8? Well, at the age of 8, they know some senses and with an education of digital citizenship, they will be able to use phones for good.
You may say that 8 is too little, my other choice is 14. 14 is reasonable since "teens" hang out a lot and they will probably need a cell phone. And that is just one of the reasons since a lot of teens do social media, maybe your kids could join the trend. And many kids can feel left out if they can't follow trends.
But there are also disadvantages too. Like how kids can get addicted to phones. And if you give phones to kids, they may not be responsible enough. And a lot of kids love chatting with their friends, but while doing that, cyberbullying could happen which is worse than real-life bullying. It is because you can't run away from it. A lot of people also worry that they may not study enough. It could happen for many kids but not for most kids. Because cases we see on news is the worst scenario of all scenario.
The conclusion is that it DEPENDS for parents and how they like it. But I think 8 through 14 is enough since "teens" hang out a lot and they will probably need a cell phone a lot. And some parents can use it for good like finding their kids if they can't find him or her, because they have GPS.
